Something told me to head on over to Mystik Merchant today and I see a few new pictures on their site. It looks as though they have recently changed their pattern some, making some adjustments to be more screen acurate.
It still features a shoulder seam (from what I can tell) and the joining of the hood to the body of the robe is better but still not completely acurate. However, aside from these small things to nit pick at (and how I seem to love doing that) its a fine looking robe and I would even consider purchasing one if I could see more shots of it.
Has anyone ordered from them recently enough to have a robe with these changes? I'm very interested in seeing if someone has one to post pictures of so as to see more than what they have on their site.
They also appear to have a few Anakin Ep. II cloaks for those interested.

FYi - They no longer use wool suiting material from what they last told me. They're currently using a cotton fabric.

They've always used the 12oz cotton twill AFAIK as that is what my Luke ROTJ cloak is made of. They no longer make wool robes due to the seamstress suffering from carpal tunnel.

Yes, the changed the design. No more shoulder tucks. Some other details are missing. I bought mine back in 2002. A friend from Argentina bought one last year and sucks. I am really sorry about that. But they are lacking quality right now.

I'm sorry to hear that their quality is lacking. From the pictures on the site, the new design looks to be far more screen accurate than their original.
I don't think the shoulder tucks worked on their robes anyway, they use a pattern that has separate sleeves from the body of the robe. I think that and the collar of the robe are the only things holding them back from having a very accurate pattern.

Their hoods are too big that its weight drags on the robe and causes it to slip off your shoulders. Good attempt. No cigar.

I have a mystic merchant robe I bought in 2005 & it has no shoulder tucks, huge hood & I had to hem the sleeves & the robe because even though I did measurements everything was to long. It looks fine now & wears well---it's cotton. Mine does not have shoulder tucks on it. It's heavy enough to hang on the shoulders for me at least. I'm thinking of maybe getting another one from them as a back up robe to the one I have. Still meditating on it.
