To Master Jorlac and the council (bows in respect) It would appear I need more clarification. I don’t mean to cause a stir in the delicate balance here but it seems there are a few things I need clarified and questions that need answers. 1. Jorlac now that we have officially sought permission, may we use the jedi assembly crest in our signatures. 2. Is it really a problem to have charater info in our bios as we are not a role playing group and they are actual movie characters. REDERANCE www.swinterum.250x.com/3. What happens to the others who have character info in their bios? 4. It seems there is already a ton of things wrong with us and we haven’t ment to cause such a stir but to belong to the assembly. It feels as though people are nit picking at things and though this may not be the case that is the feeling. 5. My hope is to one day be apart of the council and to exist in harmony and friendship to all. 6. You asked me to mention that our costumes were from the Old Republic era and then asked me to remove the bio. I am confused when you asked for the Information to be specified? Many things there are here to be looked at. I humbly ask you to consider these points as we will abide by the councils wishes. Ask I do for clarification though? I will try to answer a few of your questions Joriv. Question #1 - Sorry, but you cannot use the Jedi Assembly Crest in your signatures. It is my understanding from the signature thread that you wanted to use these sigs on other websites beside this one, correct? We have STRICT instructions, directly from Lucasfilm, about how and where the crest may be used, and it can ONLY be used on this site and Lucasfilm approved materials (like T-shirts, pins, brochures, etc.) So, we have to limit the use of the crest, or else risk censure from Lucasfilm, which could be as severe as the shutdown of the site. We definitely don't want that to happen ! Question #2 - The rules about the character bios were implemented because we have had MANY problems in the past with roleplaying getting out of hand. We are currently (and have been for quite some time) focused solely on being a costuming group. I know that you said that your group is not a role-playing group, but from your site it looks like you going to follow characters in the period after ROTS. To many (and I must admit this includes me), this could be interpreted as role-playing. Although we know that many of our members also roleplay, and that it is an intregal part of their costuming, we ask that it be limited on the site and the boards to the Fan Fiction section. HOWEVER, you may add a link to your site in the bio, as you did in this thread. That way any one who is interested in your character/group can find it. Question #3 - Since the conversion to the new website, we have requested that members with character information in their bios to please remove/change it. As with everything else, these things take time to get fully updated. The ones that are left have either not updated yet, or slipped through the cracks and were never asked to. It is something we are definitely working on, so please don't feel like we are singling you out...I promise you, we're not !! Question #6 - I think what Tanthos was asking for here was an indication in the bio that your costume is modeled (or is a replica of) after Old Republic Jedi costumes. So, basically what I did for my bio...I described the fabric I used for the tunic, etc., and then stated that my costume was based on Obi-Wan from Episode I/II. That is all we are looking for, what the inspiration (meaning era or character) for your costume was, without any in-depth description of the character itself. I hope that answers some of your questions! I am sorry that you feel as if you are being nit-picked...we are certainly not trying to do that!! Hopefully this may help you understand where we are coming from.

To Jorlac and the council,
I do herby humbly apologize and ask the councils forgiveness for what I’m sure appeared to be a challenge. I did not pause to read all the message boards to become familiar with the comings and goings of the assembly. I did not mean to imply that the rules should necessarily be changed. Only to request just how creative we can be. This as I reflect on it may have come across as a challenge. I apologize it was not my intent. I wrote it in a manner to try to be humble yet fun to read. I myself am an artist and like to do things in a fun creative manner. I am however not a RPG kind of guy. Looking across the message board I do now see what appears to be this topic in what looks like a battle here at the temple. I myself didn’t pause to check out the waters but jumped into an already closed topic. I did have a bit of help reaching this enlightened state by Jedi Kai who knows me from RL and knows I tend to do that at times (Thank You Master Kai). If I have offended anyone let me apologize here in chambers publicly. It was most certainly not my intent to do so. I have no problem standing before the assembly and doing so as I have no ego to bruise I would like to get to know all of you in time and become a valued member of the assembly.

The fact is, Jorev, that we have only relocated that information, not eliminated it. I used to have a character bio on the main site, myself, until we changed it. Backstories, as stated, are welcome in the fan-fic section of this message board.
There is a proper place for everything, and knowing what those places are will allow you to express your creative self without "causing a stir", as you put it.

"Look inside your boots."
Joriv,
Thank you for your understanding. I do know trying to read all of these threads or even wondering just where to start can be a task. If you've any questions, please ask any of us. There's a fanfiction section for itching the urge to write, and there are threads where people share their photoshop art, pictures, sketches etc. Noone around here is going to stunt another one's creativity unless it's in poor taste or un family friendly..

Easily accomodated. It's a simple matter of modification now that this banner is complete.

Good idea. Thank you for making it the same size as the "official" ones.

I deliberately went to great lengths to mirror the "official" TJA signature banners. From size, element placement, etc. I worked to make it recognizable as a TJA style banner and yet keep it different in every respect. I accomplished this by utilizing a new crest/symbol, echoing the effects utilized in the TJA banners, and by using fonts that are similar but different from those of the TJA. And since this banner is for Grey Jedi I made sure to emphasize that. I inclined towards greyed letterings and whites with shadows. Even the banner background echoes the balance of grey despite its vivid yellows and oranges... the background is an image of sunrise, one of two times each day where there is equal darkness and light.

Well the logo is a little too similar now... you can use the first one you designed. This second one is copying a little too closely.
The reason is that our logo was designed in 2002 by one of the founding members and is copyrighted. I'm sure you can respect that, as all message board members do.
Article VII. Licensing & Trademark 2006 All members must respect that the Jedi Council have worked long and hard to bring the Assembly to what it is today. The Jedi Assembly crest was designed by Keyarah Rayno (Sarah Claydon) with input on its design by the rest of the council. LucasFilm Licensing has required that we use their trademark insignia on any thing that we produce for distribution. We must follow these guidelines or LucasFilm may take away our status. Any business cards or brochures produced will be done by a member of the Jedi Council unless otherwise directed. Any use of, or modification of this design (including use as a message board signature graphic) without express consent from Anthony Foister (Tanthos Jorlac) will result in disciplinary actions or termination of Assembly membership. ©LucasFilm Ltd. & ™ All Rights Reserved. The first one is fine if message board members wish to take you up on your kind offer. However, there are no Grey Jedi recognized on these boards, neither do we promote them, or any other group. We are a Light Side Jedi costuming group only. If you belong to another group and wish to post a link here we do have a thread for that, and you are welcomed to use it. Thanks for understanding.
