I don't understand the problem here. Or why this discussion continues to go round in circles. If you want to make an all black Jedi costume then make one. If you want to wear an all black Jedi costume then wear it. If you want to be known as a Dark Jedi then be known as a Dark Jedi. If you attend a convention in this costume, and it is well made, you will receive more compliments and comments than you can imagine. Fellow costumers love originality. I have seen this issue hashed and rehashed numerous times on more sites than this one and I keep coming to the same conclusion. BE YOURSELF. You actually have a simple solution to this dilemma. Make two costumes. One to satisfy the powers that be and one to satisfy your creative personality. One will keep you in the club and the other will allow you to roam freely as who you are. Good luck with your costume.

I already have a completely black costume, and to try and keep the cost of the new costume as low as possible, I want to integrate as much of the previous costume into the new one as possible. I know I'll have to get a new tunic, but I don't want to have to get new pants/obi/tabbards unless I absolutely have to, because that money can go towards my new cloak (which will be black and just not worn for TJA photos) I've seen one member who's costume appears all black accept for his tunic, undershirt and robe, so I was hoping to be able to follow their example. However, so far, no one has been able to tell me how much black is permitted in a costume

Submit a well lit photo to the council for review, if we think it looks canon Jedi enough, that's what it takes, but we will most likely not accept a predominintly black costume, but you know that. Most likely the costume you think is mostly black, is more likely dark brown which in most camera lights looks black. I will say this again, we are not a roleplay or cosplay group, backstory does not count, it's a nice thing if you have one, just for character story, but it will not count on costume approval at all. We are a serious light side Jedi costuming group, even if you never make an approved costume, you are welcome to stay as message board members as long as you follow the rules of the boards.

Thankyou, Master Darklighter, I shall meditate upon your advice I'm sure that the costume is mostly black, but only because I am a graphic artist, so I have to have a good eye for color. The Jedi I was refering too was Ky-Wan Zann, who's excellent photos are in the gallery, but as you say, it is possible that the camera has subtly altered the color. Please understand, I'm not trying to 'tell tales' on another, I am just trying to give an example of what I had in mind

Since we aren't a Role Playing group, no, your backstory isn't a reason to have an all balck Jedi costume. We are a movie based costuming group for the most part, save for a few EU Character costumes. Moving to the Jedi Council Forums with the other questions on black and gray costumes.

Especially in the official photo on his profile. The pants can't be seen to well in the gallery picture and the official photo isn't full length, I grant you that. Now was ask that do be full length and well lit. But the costume is mostly dark brown for sure.

I have the same problem. In my back story I fall to the darkside and are later returned. But i feel i'm not worthy of wearing the jedi robes and contiune to wear black as a reminder to other jedi what could happen. But I can't do it on this site.

Yeah to ignore the Darkside is to give it power. A reminder in your apperance shows that your seeking redemption. Plus clothes don't make a Jedi. To my standards a Jedi needs skill with a blade...some have it some don't. Same here, soem have 'earth' robes, others don't.
