Most of us were interviewed and or asked question by Movie goers or media.
What was the question that made you think, 'Have you been living under a rock for the past 30 years?' (as my 8 years old said to a TV reporter yesterday )
What happened ... A TV reporter asked a group of us posing for a picture which Included Darth Vader, a Storm Trooper, and a Boba Fett.
"There are a few loose ends in this movie, like what happens to all the Clone Troopers?"
Grant, my 8 year old blurted out before we knew it ... 'Have you been living under a rock for the past 30 years?'
The Stormie said " I'm here"
We all had a good laugh.

LOL!!! That's too funny! I had guests for dinner and they have tix for RotS for tomorrow. Since they haven't seen SW since "the one with the snow" aka, ESB... I did my very best to bring them up to speed. There were comments like
Natalie Portman is Luke's mother? Oh, look it's Liam Neeson... he's in this? He trained Ben Kenobi? Did he train Yoda too? So how can they have all those ships if this isn't in the future? Are they called humans? How can they be humans if there's no Earth? How did they know to put that kid in the party scene? He wasn't... he couldn't... how did they do that? (aka the end of RotJ... young Anakin as a ghost...)
Hoo, boy...

My wife enjoys watching the films with me, however she enjoys them purely for entertainment value and is really not a fan of the series. So we're driving home one night about a month ago and she turns to me in the car and says, "I've been meaning to ask this: what's a Sith?" This wasn't a dumb question to me, so I went on to explain (as simply as possible) that the Sith are the opposite of the Jedi and use the Dark Side of the Force, etc... Last week we are watching television and the commercial for Ep III comes on with Yoda saying, "Destroy the Sith we must!". My wife turns to me and asks, "What's a Sith?" Oh brother... My wife is by no means an airhead- I figured she had forgotten that I had already explained this, and went on to explain who the Sith are again. Patience: a Jedi's most valued quality.

This wasn't really a question, just a lack of knowledge, but a funny one.
Last month, my sister checked out the original trilogy from the library to show her kids. She said those films held up well over time and still look good. (I dragged her, unwilling, to the original release of ANH and she had to admit later that she liked it, even though it was something that *I* liked) Then she had to check out the two prequel movies because her kids wanted to see more. The she told me she was screwed. She didn't KNOW that the third movie hadn't been released yet. They'll go see it in a few weeks after the crowds die down; her kids are old enough for a PG-13. But, yes, there are perfectly sensible, initelligent people out there who don't know the status of the Star Wars saga.

A group of 5 of us, 3 in full Jedi regalia and one in Padme's "dominatrix" outfit from Ep II, stopped at McDonald's before we went to get in line for the premiere, in the same small town as the theater we were going to. Now, keep in mind, this is a town with a population of (in 2002) 7,619 people (even though it's allegedly the #1 theater in the country in which to watch the SW movies - Cinemall - it's been in USA Today & on Good Morning America - weird, I know). Anyway, small town, we're dressed up - we go to McDonald's, staffed by people who are probably late teens, early 20's, and should be at least partially "hip" to pop culture. One girl behind the counter just looked at us funny. The other girl actually said "What are you guys dressed up for?". The guy with us who wasn't dressed up explained that we were going to the Star Wars premiere. The other girl, who hadn't stopped looking at us funny, honestly, actually said "What's Star Wars?". The manager walked by, asked if we were going some place that night, to which I simply had to reply "No, we do this every Wednesday. See you next week.". More funny looks. But the best part was while we were eating, an old lady, probably in her early 70's judging by her looks, asked us if we were in a play. Being polite & not wanting to flaunt our McSarcasm, we told her no, we were going to a move premiere. She asked if it was *ew* Star Trek. We explained no, it was Star Wars. She smiled, nodded, and went back to her food.

And that's why I didn't go in costume in this small town (2002 population 10,303). No one gets it here. But I almost have to do it now that the local paper is running a story on Karm and I this Saturday. Typical small town... 10 days behind the rest of the world

I didn't get any stupid questions from reporters...well...maybe this counts. A friend of my family was doing a story on people from our small town that went to C3. He was also there, and asked what my favorite costume I saw was, to which i replied, the many clone troopers that saluted me (being a Jedi has perks :-)). He asked me what a clone trooper is. Not that stupid, but he WAS at C3!

Not so much a stupid question as a stupid statement and state of mind this one... My housemate wouldn't... WOULD NOT watch Star Wars, Empire or Jedi EVER until she had seen I-III. I asked (as calmly as possible) why. She said that she was afraid she wouldn't understand the original trilogy without the background story of the PREQUELS!!!! This is the most famous story ever she's talking about. the one I grasped fully at the age of FOUR!!! She admitted that she'd seen Phantom and Clones (And by "Seen" I mean they'd been on at a house she was at while she ignored them and talked all the way through, not taking in an iota of what was happening) and wasn't sure what all the fuss was about with the Holy Trilogy. Believe me, I tried every angle on this, the woman is just stubborn with a nuclear capacity.

I had a friend go with me to see Episode III. They didn't have too much knowledge on the movies, but it kind of shocked and amused me when he asked, after seeing the burnt-to-a-crisp Anakin suited in the Vader armor, "Woah, wait, didn't that Vader guy die in the last one? Why is he in this one?" He seems to not have his movie timeline in correct order...

Maybe naming the film "Darth Vader, the Early Years" instead of "Revenge of the Sith" would have prevented this confusion.
It's always an eye-opener to realize that most people don't have quite such an indepth knowledge of the SW movies as we do.

Heh, not as epic of a movie name, but definatly would clear things up for others. ;D It is pretty mind-blowing to hear someone ask a question that is the most basic of knowledge to us.

i don't know if this counts but while in the theater waiting for the movie to start on opening day my mom started asking me a bunch of questions and the sad part of it all is that i was answering questions during the WHOLE movie i missed alot of it and in the end while in the car after the movie i have to start asking her questions about what happened, kinda ironic huh well a day later I'm waiting in the theater to see it and believe it or not there was a tornado warning and they end up having to close the theater because of that. so the next day i see it and it was great. well that is my moment it hell.
