I dont think it will be padme's death that sets him over the edge. If you remember Vader didnt know about Luke or Leia until V and VI. He would have already gone to the darkside before their birth if he had known, something would have happened to them and they may never have lived long enough to see day light. Obi Wan had to hide them from Vader suggesting Vader had turned before their birth and maybe even before Padme new she was pregnant.
Now I do think she will have to die....
but I also think that the mother leia spoke of was Bail Organa's wife.

there certainly have been a lot of changes in the way that I have been thinking about ROTS....
I am really not sure about anything anymore...except...of course...that Anakin becomes Darth Vader...lol...

Padme won't die in ROTS. Leia remembers her. The twins get to a max of 1 month old by the end of the movie. That's too young to remember. Plus, Vader knows about Luke, just not Leia.

From the latest Vanity Faire article: "It occurred to me as I was watching the movies again how strong Palpatine is and that Darth Vader is more or less a henchman," Windolf says. "It was exciting to hear George say that in Anakin's defiant quest to save someone he loved from death, he literally wanted to be able to stop them from going down the river Styx. But to do that, you have to ask permission from a god. He was denied, so he made a pact with the Sith...with dire consequences." Think he's talking about Padme? hmm

It's the latest Vanity Fair. They did an article about it on the main star wars site. You can read it here: www.starwars.com/episode-iii/release/publicity/news20050104.htmlI think the most interesting part is when Lucas says that Luke is actually more powerful than Vader in the Force because the Force's physical embodiment in Vader is severely damaged after Episode 3. The Emporer is disappointed in that and that's why he wants Luke so bad. That line is going to bring an uproar to some fanboy posts I've read in the past on other sites

Yeah that spread of all the cast members is incredible. I am a little surprised they could pull all the actors together to do it but that picture alone will help sell copies of the magazine I think

This photo is great and even Grievous is on it!!
Spoiler!!! Highlight About padmee there is on the force.net a plot summary of EPIII. Anakin know she will die that is why he doesn't know his children are alive. She dies giving birth on the Tantive IV.

hmmmm..... sounds very interesting... and plausible...
After reading the article in Vanity Fair....it makes sense...
the article tells of Anakin basically "selling his soul" to the devil (the Sith) in the hopes of saving "someone he loves".... and I'm sure we can guess who that is...
The "lava planet" (is that Mustafar?) is supposed to be "hell"....the hell that Anakin sells himself into....
and with the leg and arm missing....less body parts = less midichlorians....that is why Palpatine will go after Anakin's offspring....Luke.......
