OK I was re-reading the Jedi Apprentice series again and in book 3: The Hidden Past, there was a mention of Obi-Wan going home to see his family when he was young. And while he is visiting his family he remembers his brothers name; Owen. Now it doesn't say which planet he is on when he goes home but it does lead me to believe that it is Tatooine, and Owen is Owen Lars. I don't know how many of you have read this series (it is very good) and come across this but if anyone has anymore info I would gladly appreciate it. I have also heard this before that Owen is Ob-Wan's brother but I am just not 100% sure.
Also other books never mention Jedi students going back home for a visit especially when they are so young. I thought they keep them separated to keep from feelings leading to fear, hate, etc. So if anyone has any thoughts I would love to hear them.

Great! Now I have MORE books to buy and read........... Oh, the Jedi Apprentice books (and the Jedi Quest and now Last of the Jedi) are written at a young adult level, so they read very fast. However, they do have continuing stories, so you do want to read them in order.
No, I don't think that Obi-Wan's brother is Owen Lars! The Lars family looks like they've been on the Tatooine farm for a long time and I think that Obi-Wan would know if he came from there. And Owen looks like he's around Anakin's age; Obi-Wan is at least 15 years older than that. Also, children on Tatooine are not tested for Jedi traits, so Obi-Wan would not be at the Temple if his family came from there.
Surely, there must be millions, possibly billions of beings named "Owen" in a galaxy of that many worlds.

Very true. It was just a thought and wanted to see what other people thought. Maybe untrue but there may be a small chance that Owen is Obi-Wan's brother, you never know; The Dark Side of the Force clouds everything.
And yes the Jedi Apprentice series is a young readers novel but I like it very much. It is also the only story line that talk about Obi-Wan as a young apprentice and has lots of Qui-Gon which is hard to come by. The books do read fast but have lots of Jedi philosophy and are very enjoyable. There are 18 books plus a few special editions that go back to the series. Hope you enjoy as much as I do.

I actually remember an old rumor before the prequel trilogy came out that Owen was Ben's brother and not Anakin's. I can't for the life of me remember where I'd heard that, though.

In book 3 of the Jedi Apprentice series he is 13, but it doesn't say how old he is when he remembers his visit home. This is what it says: "A visit home. his mother. Softness and light. His father. A laugh, full-bodied, joined by his mother's, just as full, just as rich. His bother, sharing a piece of fruit with him. The explosion of sweet juice in his mouth. Soft grasses underneath his bare feet. ....Owen. His brother's name was Owen."
But now that I wrote this and re-read it again I caught the "soft grasses underneath his bare feet." So I guess Owen Lars is not his brother unless they somehow moved later on. Well I guess that puts a stop in that, unless they family did move later on. But I have read else where that they are brother just dont remember where.

I guess you are right. If you think about it owen is the same age or younger than anakin in episode 2 and im guessing obiwan in episode 2 was around 35. So that wouldn't make much since unless owen was a baby or just born when obiwan went home. (i always thought obiwan would have been from corelia or alderaan, hmmm...)

In the beginning, Lucas was going to have Owen Lars and Obi-Wan be brothres. However, that s not the case in "reality". But rumors were out that Obi-Wan and Owen were rbothers, so they just kept the name Owen for the book. Thre is no relation between the two

Listen to Cor-Al, you should.... right, she is!
"The Hidden Past" does contain one of the inconsistancies in the SW EU.

Wow, she really paid over $30 for one of the books? I have the whole series but didn't get the last 3 or 4 books until this past Christmas but I bought them all at the book store or ordered them on line from barns and noble. Which ones are scarce?
