It was an interesting prequel to Clones, at times it workrd very well, occasionally not. It was interesting developement for the characters of Bariss and Luminara. I read it months ago, while waiting in line for Clones, I need to re-read it, I wasn't always awake while I was reading it.

I guess i'm used to the way the other jedi based books talk about the force and how the characters are employing it. this one had very little of that, and the charactors seemed less Jedi and more like everyday citizens of the republic. I was not thrilled with it but it was ok.

gracias...Ryss..... ;D I think we probably run along the same lines as far as what we think is good....and what...well...isn't so good.... (based on some of our other comments on other books)
I am in the middle of the X-Wing series right now...it started off awesome...I just rolled through the first 4 books....but I am kinda stuck on #5..."Wraith Squadron"...the only character that I am familiar with in this book is Wedge....the others are kinda blah....but I know I will finish it anyway!

Finished Approaching Storm a while ago. I thought it was kind of boring. Too many things they had to go through, it got kind of repetitive that it happened like every chapter. I agree with Johann that they needed more discussion on the Force and how it is employed. I guess I expected a little more. But I did like the interaction between Anakin and Bariss

Schph...on those later X-Wing books it gets better... ;D You soon get familiar with the characters. In Iron Fist (the one after Wraith Squadron) I fell over laughing plenty of times. That one's great.

I think Approaching Storm was focused on defining Anakin's character and on the political events that lead up to ATOC, rather than use of the Force; however the author should not have omitted that aspect as much as he obviously did. The Jedi were portrayed as a group of diplomats who fell in and out of situations, albeit, colorful ones! I liked the book very much. When I saw ATOC and Mace said, "they've just returned from a mission on Ansion", I felt like I knew a little bit of backstory. Also, it was interesting to see how Foster was able to establish the character of Bariss Offee without describing her phyisical attributes anywhere in the story! Very clever.

color=Purple]I Agree that it was an excellant tie in to AOTC. I just feel that the author should have used more discription of the force and how the jedi were using it.[/color]

The closest thing out there is the power of the jedi source book for the RPG and some other entries for the game
