Yeah quite bad ones...I've had some real negative dealings with the owner of that site as well.
I would advise caution to those going in and wanting a costume...

Primrodo, which site have you had negative dealings with? Funky Jedi or MPM in the UK? Just curious and your reply didn't make it clear.

I tried to deal with funkyjedi but after a couple of e-mails she just stopped replying but Martin at MPM always replys and quickly too.

Primrodo, That might be becase it's a UK based company & they have to pay heavy import & tax. I know the person who posted the site is from the UK & I think the prices were in pds st. when I looked at the site. If that's the case, it would be rather like taking ice to Hoth, for us to order from him. I just went back & checked, it is definitly a UK site.

I realize that, but 40US is a little much for buckles Dave sold and shipped MUCH lower. Thats not even the point really.
Captain Carter I fully stand behind, MPM I will never support.

I like Dave's buckels. By the way. DAVE< got any brass ones?? I'm beenlooking and can't find a nice brass buckle. Your silver oens rock the free universe. SO if ya' know where I can snag several brass buckles and a few more of your silvers. Gemme a PM.

Mynn, if you can't get them in brass, I can get the silver ones plated for you, it shouldn't cost too much. Let me know at Dragon Con, I can look into it if you need me to. I know a few platers from my jewelry days. As for the 2 costume co. it would seem that you both have had an opposite reaction to each, it could just be how it went for you each. I think I met the MPM people at a collectors show, if it was them, they were quite pleasant. I'd say, deal with who you have had a good experience with.

Nova, that sounds like a good idea to plate some silver ones. Can you check on that? I've a feeling I may not be finding any solid brass buckles any time soon. At least with the plated ones I'll have it and when they have some wear, it'll look good.

SO if ya' know where I can snag several brass buckles and a few more of your silvers. Gemme a PM. Brass - no I don't have them in brass. But the buckles are Nickel Plated Brass so you might be able to find a way to strip the nickel plate off of the buckle (I have no idea on how to even do it). Unfortunately to get them in brass i would have to order 1200 more and I personally don't see a major demand for them MPM - I have to admit that Martin was a nice guy in the couple emails we exchanged. But I have to agree with Justin that he way overcharges for the buckles and the dished knobs IMHO. If I am not mistaken the $40 USA is before shipping. Now I did read the emails that he and Justin exchanged and I can find fault in both parties, but some of the remarks that he made to Justin I did take personally - I can only speak of the couple products that he bought from he in regard to quality, anything else I simply do not have the first hand knowledge of Dave

If my old plater is around I'm pretty sure I can get them stripped, at least to the point of replating them in brass, I think he has to do that anyway if they are plated in NS. the stripping is usually done so that they can plate or replate a metal, not sure how, only that I seem to remember having it done a few times. I'll see what I can find out, I haven't dabbled much in the jewelry stuff in awhile.
As for the prices at MPM, if you've ever been in the UK, things are usually quite a bit more, like, go to the Hard Rock for a burger here & it's aboud $7.50, go there and it's about 7.50 B.Pds St. that's about twice the price, so, imported items can be really off the wall. I used to have a friend who had me buy british records over here to take to her there, because even after import record prices, it was quite a bit cheaper to buy them here, and the sales tax (VAT) is 171/2 percent! That's twice what NYC sales tax is, and we're about the highest in the country. I might add they pay more for a litre of gas for the car than we pay for a gallon, really! When I was over in the spring this year, I saw the lic. LOTR Legolas boots, they were selling for around 600pds, thats about $1200 at the time, do remember the exchange varies from day to day as well. Over here those boots are about $350.

Try a local Body Shop...they may be able to tell you who they go to for re-plating....but instead of replating the buckle...they could probably just have it acid dipped and the shop that does their chrome plating may do/or have info on brass plating...

Primrodo has not been a customer of MPM at any point to comment on service. To address the Buckles price, they are priced at that amount if bought seperately but If a Belt is bought they are included & is a far more reasonable price. My website Forum speaks volumes for my products & customer service. Apologies to those on the Council if this seems out of turn, but feel that I should have the opportunity to comment on the negative opinion of Primrodo's comments on this thread. Regards JMK
