Kai, was in a hurry last night, so I didn't get a chance to tell you that I liked your garb, I like to mix and match as well, and if I find time, I may get my 3rd one done before Halloween, we're having a costume party at bowling on Halloween night and my long one would be awkward and it's so light it would be a mess afterward, the next one is going to be more practical. Khaki and brown probably.

I sense a book on leathermaking in my future....
You can really sew that thick stuff (like for a holster) by hand?
I would have never imagined that...... will have to check into that a little futher.....
thanks again soo much....
Wal Mart huh....will have to continue to check.... I have my second tunic almost done and have fabric left over....I have a second pile of different fabric to make a third and yet different color from my first and second.....so...if I make tabbards and sash out of all three materials....I can mix and match...but most of the texture on mine are the same....will have to keep checking for more texture-y fabric.....
thanks again for the ideas and advice....Jedi always have more to learn!

Nova--Thanks! I, too, may go for a thrid. I've been looking at some of the illustrations in the Star Wars Role Plyaing Game's "Secrets of the Jedi" book...a lot of the inner tunics have a high, banded collar...interesting.
Jade--Thank you. Hmmm.... I tend to dabble in nearly everything that sparks my interest. Weapons, armor, martial arts, art, crafts, science..."Jack of all trades" in a way. I'd say "I don't do windows" but, curse me I do that too...
Schph--Sewing leather by hand is easy. The key is that you pre-punch your stitching holes with an awl, or a stitching chisel. These create a hole all the way through, and you simply go back with a harness needle (thick and blunt) and thread suitable for hand stitching (I use waxed linen, and artificial sinew). Hand stitching is time consuming, that's the big thing about it. You might be amazed at what you can make with just some basic leatherworking skills...

Actually, Old Ben's collar is a neckband on a shirt that closes up the front with a hidden slit, it is VERY much like the collar on an EYGPTIAN tunic (say rather exactly) but the buttons are hidden. I was able to see that detail at the M&M show at the Brooklyn museum. Interesting, it is the same style on the MASTER PC, ANAKIN from Kenner, and they both seem to wear plain basic trousers in brown as well. But the tall boots are there. I like the 12" figures for costume details, you can undress them and see dumb details, I sort of thought that Ben wore a turtle neck, they don't focus on the shirt neck enough for minor details never thought about pants, assumed it was a long under robe. It will be interesting to see if any costume details are clearer, if they ever get them digitised for DVD.

My Jedi regalia: The Jedi Uniform: based on the description of Corren Horns Correllian Regalia from I, Jedi, and his pic from Esential Guide to Characters. The Tunic will be a lighter green, and the wrap coat will be in Hunter Green, The Tabard and Obi are still undecided but will bew something that goes well with the colors. I'm going to convince/bribe/conjole my leather worker roomate too make me a black version of the Jedi Belt. The Pants are Black Corderoy for the moment, but I'm thinking of making a pair of black baggy Hareem style pants to replace them, and of course my black motor cycle boots. The Robe its self is made of an acrylic black fabric that is woven to look like leather. In the other variation the robe is replaced by a grey and black wool riding coat I picked up from a ren faire. its flows well and fits like a jedi robe, so I may use it instead of the robe all the time. The belt will be a prequel style Jedi Utility belt modified to holster a blaster on the left hip, with the lightsaber clip on the right. The Blaster is a Jango Fett costume blaster I picked up from a local party store, and for now, my lightsaber is a green bladed sabre that I picked up at Ames in July.

Does your leathermaking room mate do projects for hire? Where I would love to do leathermaking myself....I just don't see it in my future. Right now I am scrambling to finish my second tunic...working on it whenever I get a chance between all of my "real life" projects....I am also in the middle of finishing up my "dowel rod" lightsaber hilt. I need to simplify my life to make more room for this kind of stuff...but instead of dumping volunteer organizations and projects, I seem to keep picking up more.
Anyhow...if he can be a "hired gun" ....please let me know.....there are a few leather projects I am really interested in..... some "Star Wars" looking half chaps for my boots and Jedi Pouches.....

[glow=blue,2,300]Oh that sounds nice. I have another project or two going for jedi garb. 1. forest green suead tabords, I'm currently sewing by hand. A long flowing, full, velvet green cloak, black pants, cream over tunis white under tunic. Black boots, pouches and belt. The Obi will be a cream raw silk, cuz a green suead one would be too hot. :-) I can wear the cream pants with it, to get a differant look. Or evne switch tot he brown robe instead of the green. 2nd outfit: jade colored dress. Fitted bodice, short sleeved, Full skirt, that has alternatiing plain and embrodiered panels. Embrodiry is the same color as the fabric. Understated but elegant. I can wear both tunics(White under and cream over) on top of the dress and it's no problem. I'm trying to find leggings the same shade as the dress. same color of belt, pouches and boots as above.(only set I have. .) 2 looks from this one outfit, Can wear only the cream tunic, it's "casual dressy". or wear the white and cream together,"Dressed to the nine's" dressy. Top off emsamble with Brown chocolate robe. :-) (I tried that, it looks sweeeeet.) How do these sound? (Note: the crean tunic I mean is the orginal one some of you had seen on TF.NEt forum.)Mynn [/glow]

sounds beautiful! nice color combinations...and can't wait to see it....
speaking of which...I have seen your picture at the Rebel Legion too....have you sent it to Tanthos?
I guess I like my dark brown best...I am like a 5 year old...can't seem to stay clean for more than 10 minutes ...and when I wore my light color tunic and pants....they would instantly be messed up.
